The Red Room

Identity design for underground music space 

Red Room is an independent art and music platform based in Tehran, Iran. With a remit to promote the Iranian underground electronic music and digital arts, it creates a podium for the voice and performance of Iranian female musicians. The visual identity of the Red Room was designed to gesture, both the existential and functional relevance of the platform.

On one hand, the blood drop points to the political hostility against women in Iran since 1979, while the following box addresses the enduring pursuit of freedom that reveals itself in such underground spaces. On the other hand, these two visual elements refer to the activities that are organised in this space, which are divided into two parts since its inception: electronic music and digital arts.
