Dripping Legends is an interactive installation created in collaboration with performing artist Xenia, aiming to pose questions about our perception of pain and violence that is, now a days, influenced by our digital and virtual culture. This game-like installation engages the audience in forming the narration and construction of meanings and combines the real and fiction by mixing up a game-like environment with a real environment.
The main characters simultaneously perform in both virtual and real stratospheres, exposed to the conditions that occur due to the choices of the audience, who can choose to avoid a challenge, relieve, suspend, harm or eliminate characters. The player directs the story by making these choices and observes the consequence of her decisions in real world where the performer might get injured and feel the pain the same way as the game character is effected.
This project was displayed at Stedelijk Museum (21-25 March 2018). The presentation was the first phase and the demo version of a year-long project that I will be developing in a number of steps. Information about upcoming appearances will be posted at www.on-hold.nl.
